Happy 7th Birthday Landon!

Last weekend we celebrated Landon's 7th birthday. It was a relatively low-key day, but still packed with plenty of birthday celebration. It is tradition that whoever is having the birthday plans the menu for the day, and I always love to see what the kids choose. Landon's menu was as follows:

Breakfast: Fruit Loops (hilarious to me as he had never had them before. There's a nod to good advertising :))
Lunch: Homemade pizza
Dinner: Red Robin
Birthday cake: Three-layered, white cake with strawberry frosting and fresh strawberries (the boy knows what he wants!)
Ice Cream: Mint Chocolate Chip

The boys have been asking for a basketball hoop for the driveway for a while now, and Ryan and I decided that Landon's birthday would be a great time to finally get one. While the boys were at baseball practice, Ryan put together the new hoop and there was much celebration when they came home and saw the hoop! With grandparents rounding out the gift giving with Legos, a perfect birthday was born.

This is classic Landon.  He was so thrilled to have a silly birthday song sung to him!

For all of the angst I have felt, and fist shaking that I have done through the years over some of Landon's crazy antics, Landon has blossomed the last year or two into a really great, responsible kid. He is so mature for his age and has such a nurturing heart - especially with little kids, which is so cute to see. He continues to be a very funny, joyful personality and makes sure things always stay interesting around here. :)

Um, your cake is gorgeous.
Is that homemade frosting? Wow.
Also, I am trying your recipe for Butterscotch Ch. Chip Cookies. We love butterscotch at our house.

P.S. Thanks for the kind words on my blog. I get all giddy over compliments on my photos. :)
